Visit to the local market

Monday 29th July

Day 9

We went to Elmina market at 9 O’Clock to help Mary with the food shopping, and we split into 4 groups to try and find everything on the list. Everything was found except grapes so we got more mango instead. I went looking for a knife but I couldn’t find one which was very annoying. We then went to get water and most of us carried it on our head but Sir took 3 of these big bags that weigh about 15kg each. We got back and did our class projects then watched the Ghanaians do a sketch about herbal remedies. Then after lunch we continued with our projects where we did more painting of the room and finished the volleyball net that was very well made. We then visited the buddies families and gave the parents their gifts. We did this in pairs or in threes and it went very well. Some of us visited the local mosque We then played volleyball where Mr Hughes was unsurprisingly very good considering he was so tall he could look over the net! We then had dinner which was mainly rice and plantain. We are now talking to the buddies and having a good time.
