25th March 2018

Hello family and friends! What a day we had today. We started our day off right with a lovely breakfast. We then proceeded to all take our first showers in Ayensudo. Let me tell ya, very interesting to say the least. After that we headed to the church to join in on a fantastic service. We were all asked to go up on stage and introduce ourselves to everyone. They were all so welcoming and nice. After our church service we came back for lunch, and then hit the road yet again to go explore the historic Ghanaian slave castle. On our way to the castle we stopped in a little town to transfer our American money to Cedi’s. The African form of currency. We then got to the slave castle. It’s was very interesting and the view of the city and ocean from the castle was breathtaking. Many, many pictures were taken. At the end of our tour, we got our first chance to shop and purchase merchandise from multiple little markets. From bracelets and necklaces to back packs and crazy colored shirts, the options were endless. After our visit to the slave castle and our shopping adventure, our day was still not over. We then headed to the nearby Stadium to watch the Elmina Sharks face off against the Aduana Stars in Ghanaian Premier league Soccer. It was awesome and so cool to see what sports are like over here in Africa. After the soccer game we boarded our truck and headed back home. We were so welcomed by all the little kids again and played with them for a little bit. We then ate a lovely dinner that consisted of rice and fried chicken with a side of watermelon and pineapple. After we ate we all calmed down and sat around a lovely fire and talked and enjoyed each others company. Overall it was a very, very busy day, but an incredible day none the less. Our journey in Africa is only beginning. And with another day in the books we can only wait to see what tomorrow holds for us.
