WEY T1 visit to Elmina Castle

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > WEY T1 visit to Elmina Castle

Day 4- 10th April 19

We started the day at 5:30 and ate breakfast. We got ready to go to our workshops that we ran. We all taught the children different subjects like: Science, Maths, Art, Drama, Spanish and French. It was so fun and exciting to be able to teach the children and try to help them understand new things. After the workshops, we went back and played with the children and our buddies while the cooking team helped to prepare lunch. After the meal, we got into the buses with our buddies and drove to Elmina. While we were here we were given a tour of Elmina castle where we learnt about the history of the castle and how the Portuguese, Dutch and British all had control over it over time. We went around some shops and some people bought trousers or fabric ready to be tailored. The day seemed to be a bit tough because we are still getting used to the food and the heat, but by dinner our spirits have been lifted.
