Official welcome ceremony and project work at Pershie school

Partner Schools Worldwide > Crofton School and Pershie Jira Akyinim JHS > Official welcome ceremony and project work at Pershie school

Day 4-24th July 2018
Waking up this morning, was obviously a challenge after an eventful yesterday. However, knowing we were awaking to Mercy’s amazing cooking kept us all going!! For breakfast this morning, we had toast and omelettes which was devoured very quickly. Unfortunately there was no rest afterwards as we had to be at the school for our welcoming ceremony within the hour. The ceremony was an amazing welcome and consisted of a lot of dancing, drumming and acrobats! They even had us up joining in. Which was certainly eventual as none of us had anything prepared. So of course, in the most British way possible, the macarena was our fall back. After this spectacular greeting we began the work of painting the primary school block. Never before had we even imagined the arguments that would come with a paint brush and a wall that needs painting between the Ghanaian students! Between painting, the Ghanaian children were very curious of our being there causing us to be very distracted! They were so lovely to us and we look forward to spending our next week with them. After an already tiring day, we waited for our bus to take us back to Mercy’s fantastic cooking. We had an amazing chicken and rice dish. As it stands we are enjoying a much needed rest, with a pack of cards and chatting. Overall it’s been a wonderful day, and we can’t wait for tomorrow!
