Day 9 – Saturday 8/04/17
Today we woke in the early hours of the morning to leave at 8 am (GMT) to take the bus trip Kakum National Forest. This wasn’t before a delicious breakfast of porridge and toasted however. After an hour and half of travelling we met with the beautiful view of the rainforest that we were given a tour of. Us and the Dwabor team ( everyone hand in hand with their buddies) trekked up a 400m steep hill to reach the summit where we then ventured across wobbly bridges tree to tree. The photo opportunities were definitely taken advantage of! And although a few members of the combined teams felt a little nauseous about the walking across shaky bridges, everyone managed to cross the finish line and land on solid ground once again.
Some of the buddies and us were terrified and managed to get through it with motivational singing from Izzy M, Miss Gilbert and many others specifically songs from the sound of music.
On the way back home, we stopped off at Hans Cottage where we grabbed a few drinks and went looking for crocodiles. We found a number hiding in one corner of the lake. Following this went back to Ayensudo to swap buses with Dwabor as they had to go home due to the rain and we continued on with the original plan to go to the beach, as we and the buddies being really excited to go. The water was cool and welcoming from the days heat, the team and buddies thoroughly enjoyed swimming in the waves playing on the beach. At the end we discovered nice surprise, warm, working proper showers in a clean tiled room, which in comparison to the bucket we have become accustomed to was heaven.
Today’s star and dip of the day was a surprise as Archie managed to bag both awards. Tonight we plan to read with our buddies around a campfire and teach them how to use the two laptops we brought out, learning the skill to use word, Power Point and other laptop features.
Signing out from todays Supreme Leader, Lea.
