Thursday 15th
Today we woke up ready for a morning of project work. We continued with our previously started projects, some sanding and painting the tables and chairs whilst the others went down to the Chief’s palace to do some more work on the murals. We worked until lunch time and made good progress- finishing most of the chairs and tables which now look much more fresh with another lick of paint. We also managed to finish one of the murals in the palace and have made good progress on another of the four designs.
After lunch of a local dish of bean stew called ‘red red’ we all got back into the truck ready to go on our team treat of going to the beach. We were all very excited as there was a rumour that chicken and chips might be on the menu at the café and it was nice to get out of the village and have a change of scenery. As soon as we arrived, most of the team ran into the waves and the others set themselves up in the hammocks hanging between the trees. The weather was warm and everyone had a great time- even more so when we found out that there were proper working showers and toilets! Once we had become clean and lost our ‘dirt tans’ we ordered our food (chicken and chips were on the menu as promised) and it was time for the leaders to give out their fan ices to those they felt had performed well over the last few days. They surprised us all by giving out 19 ice creams as they couldn’t chose between us, it was a great end to a fab day.
After Lottie had filmed some spontaneous beach dancing for the Ghana movie that she has planned (including Kev performing the single ladies dance and Sally showing us all the twist) we packed up, boarded the truck again and went back home for a bonfire with the buddies.
Hello family once again! Hope your enjoying your last few days in Tenerife, missing you loads, even as much as I’m missing ENGLISH FOOD! I have unfortunately been ill for a week, however (BEFORE YOU PANIC!) I’m recovering on a diet of bread and rice, also I’m feeling much better. If any friends are reading this HELLO to you, missing you to!
See you soon Brads xx
