Ambassadors and buddies perform cultural drumming and dance for Ayensudo community

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon School and Ayensudo Islamic JHS > Ambassadors and buddies perform cultural drumming and dance for Ayensudo community

DAY 11-Wednesday, 1st August 2018
Today was an amazing but sad day as it was our last at the school. We carried on with our project painting work after a delicious breakfast of French toast and the usual condiments. The project work was relaxed and we added the finishing touches to the maths murals and painted some new nursery rhyme murals. Our lunch of spring rolls and yam was cooked amazingly by our wonderful cooks Mary and Esther.
At 4 we began the drumming and dancing workshop with our buddies, which was led by some talented professionals. In 3 groups we learnt different routines and we all learnt a drum sequence. Early in the evening we walked into the village carrying our chairs and performed our dance routines in front of the elders and others from the community. The professionals performed an incredible dance, then one of them showed us his insane fire tricks. James and I picked up pieces of cotton wool on fire and threw them into his mouth. We are now having a very long, fun, crazy campfire surrounded by drumming dancing and singing.
Massive thanks to Amy and Amanda for being amazing leaders 🙂
Also happy birthday to Joe’s dad!
Can’t wait to see you all, Rosie
