LWC receives warm welcome ceremony from their buddies at Edyeikrom school

Partner Schools Worldwide > Lord Wandsworth and Egyeikrom > LWC receives warm welcome ceremony from their buddies at Edyeikrom school

Day 3- 25th October 2017. 7 o’clock wake up was easier for some than others, then eggy bread and back onto the truck. Driving into the village with children running beside shouting and waving until we arrived at the school. We were greeted and introduced formally with prayers, the highlight being the sung version of the lords prayer. Next we met our buddies and chatted to them before the chief arrived and the greeting ceremony started. After a series of cultural dances and speeches we were invited to dance with our buddies and Mr maitment was asked to be a new chief if we completed the project! We then set to work painting the new classroom block with all the parents and staff thanking us very much for our fundraising that paid for the new classroom. We spent the next few hours in the hot sun painting the whitewash and chatting to the children before returning to camp to relax and think about the day. Some people decided to go for a run, however some defiantly didn’t! We spent the evening chatting about our experiences and thinking about the akwaaba (welcome) we had received.
