Today,we received our official welcoming in our welcoming ceremony organised by Essaman United. This consisted of a Cadet inspection and display,in which cadets Ella Brown,Hattie Dent,Fiona Denton and Sophey Harrison-Harding inspected the cadet soldiers from Essaman united. For us,it was like AGI day back at Kimbolton instead we were the inspectors, and definitely not intimidating. A memorable moment today for us all was dancing to the African music with the Pre-school children. They truly put our dancing to shame……
During the welcoming ceremony we also watched the drama and dance group perform to us and we took part in Christian,Muslim and Traditional prayers read by students from partner school. Following on from our welcoming ceremony, we headed back to the school with our buddies. Here again we were welcomed by the children with big smiles. Never before have I experienced so many people wanting to hold my hand and take pictures with me. Neither of us could walk 5 ft before being engulfed by smiling children. What made my day was seeing the children ‘peace and point’ in the selfies.
After playing and taking pictures with the children, we got on with some proper work of sanding down future chairs. We were joined by our buddies to sand down every last chair to perfection. This was our first taste of the work we have to come for the remainder of our trip. Something we are all looking forward to contributing to the inprovement of Essaman United. After our 5th day of experiencing even more in Ghana, we headed back to stumble Inn to relax, and for members of the group and I to get some serious tanning.
We know Murray and Serena won Wimbledon, and Portugal won the Euros however a question on some of our minds is ; who won love island ?

Today was our first full day of our project at the school. We split up into groups and started to paint the main building of the school, sand the inside walls of the school and varnish the furniture. We had a great time with our buddies working together to get the job done efficiently. As we worked so well together, we finished early and therefor had a chance to play football and teach them nursery rhymes.
Overall, this was a great, productive day for the group and we look forward to completing our project at Essaman United.
