Thursday 7th July
Today we woke up in time for a 7:30 breakfast of scrambled eggs and beans. At 8:00 we left the hostel to meet our buddies at the school. We were introduced to our buddies by teachers from both schools calling out our names. After everyone had been assigned a buddy we had 5min to get to know each other. We were given a tour of the school and introduced to some of the classes. Then it was time for welcoming ceremony which was held in a classroom where all the pupils were waiting. Once we had sat down some of the kindergarten pupils gave a performance welcoming us followed by senior teacher gave a warm speech. The speech was followed by a speech from Jamie who introduced us and gave the pupils a small insight into what we will be doing within our stay and library project. After Jamie’s speech the whole school sang a song to thank us for the visit. This concluded the welcoming ceremony. We then started varnishing the library chairs and moved them into the sunshine to dry.
Lunch arrived shortly after and we had pasta and sausage. After lunch we played football with the pupils which was very hoy but entertaining. We then started to sand the shelves where our book donations will go with help from our buddies. Once school had finished we also got help from the younger pupils. Once all sanded we said goodbye to our buddies and departed the school.
