Weydon Team 10 Day 11 (Ayensudo)
Hi everyone, Beth here. Today was our first full day at the new site in Ayensudo Islamic School. Primarily some of the team were skeptical about being in a new village and everyone was missing the familiarity of Dwabor however soon everyone started to settle in to Ayensudo and begin to enjoy it as much as Dwabor. We started our brand new projects which was extremely exciting as we are building a new playground, continuing with the start of the library, and painting murals and teacher housing.
Everyone is working as a team with the help of Ayensudo students and teachers. The food is still absolutely incredible even though we have a new chef and team 10 is still fantastic as one solid team. We are over halfway into our trip and we all miss everyone and everything in the UK but Ghana is amazing!!! See you soon!
Lots of love,
Beth + Team 10
2nd August 2014
We got up at 6:30ish and had egg omelets for breakfast. Later on throughout the day we finished our murals and our playground area. In the evening later we had dinner, yam balls and vegetable sauce and played cards as a group. Overall it was a very productive day.
3rd August 2014
Early start as usual as we were going to church in the morning. We ate porridge for breakfast and left the school at 8am to go to the Catholic Church service. The service lasted 2 hours with lots of singing, dancing, and prayers. We had an early lunch of sandwiches in order to arrive in time to play cricket at 1:00 against the Elmina Cricket Club. We won the cricket by 4 wickets, our woman of the match was Lily.
We came home from cricket and all bonded over a game of emporer before going to bed at 9pm.
4th August 2014
Today was a very good day because we had our drumming and dance workshop. In the morning we did the final finishing touches to all of our projects we have been working hard on and after we finished we had a chilled morning. Some girls went with Gifty our cook to a food and spices market in Elmina. After a nice lunch of spaghetti bolognaise, we learnt to Ghanaian drum and dance! Everyone really enjoyed themselves. To finish off a lovely day we had an amazing bonfire in the evening with Jasmine Anwars guitar, singing songs and bonding as a team.
