Sacred Heart – Ayensudo M/A JHS

Partner Schools Worldwide > Sacred Heart School > Sacred Heart – Ayensudo M/A JHS

Day 4
Today is our first day of project work and therefore our first day of working with our buddies. We are painting the library and will also be painting murals; one for each subject taught.
Needless to say, we were all over the moon to discover just now luxurious our toilets are, they even flush! Everyone had a shower yesterday which was pretty amazing, staying clean lasted about 3 minutes.
Earlier this morning, we all took taxis to Elmina to get our Batik materials which are going to be made into Ghanaian dresses.
Everyone is fine, working hard, enjoying themselves and generally having a good time.
See you!

Niamn, Joe and Isaac

Day 5
This morning we woke up to eggy bread made by our work Augustina and took all our tablets. We split off into two groups and some of the girls went to the hair dressing saloon! Some have just got a simple braid but some were slightly more adventurous. The others made their way to the school to begin day 2 of the project work. Today, we finished off the exterior with oil paints, washing machines at the ready please!. We have planned our murals and are ready to design the final one on the walls. We sat with Emmanuel, the science teacher and over the lunch we have been given our Fanti (Ghanaian laguage) names based on the days we were born.

This afternoon we are doing a cultural drumming and dance workshop that everyone is very excited for. It’s a dance to experience local culture! We will all need a big drink of water through but it’s only 3 English pence for 500ml!. Our hair we had done was also 2 cedis which is 60 pence. Everyone’s safe and happy at our half way point, we send our love and soon a pile of washing!

Domin, Rebekah and Amelia on behalf of October group. Bye!
