My name is Elizabeth Sam from Dwabor M/A Basic school. I was a buddy of Olivia during the Easter visit from our partner school, Weydon, UK from 30th March – 8th April 2013.
My favourite part of the visit was when we went on an excursion to Kakum national park and the Elmina castle. I learnt a lot about the slave trade that has now made me have in-depth knowledge and understanding on the whole slave trad .I also learnt about how important it is to preserve and appreciate the natural beauty and the contribution of our environment to mankind. We had lots of photos during the trip which will help me better to show and explain to my friends who have not being to these places before.
I was really impressed with the UK students. They were all good to us as they helped us to learn more of their language while we also taught them some basic fante language. As a result of their friendly nature, I spent much time with them and shared cultural experiences especially our language and theirs. My buddy Olivia also demonstrated positive and responsive behaviour. She gave me a gift which surprised me a lot – I wasn’t expecting that!
Overall the visit has taught me the necessity to extend support to people when they are in need and demonstrate tolerance and respect to all.
