Weydon Team 8 – August 7th

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Weydon Team 8 – August 7th

Today was a great day we had our international cultural day where we ran a mini Olympics including the sports egg and spoon race, hopping race, sprinting and twister. While staying in Stumble Inn Kathy came up with the idea of making medals out of bottle top lids and pieces of coloured string, which the children loved! The day was concluded with a game of football between the Weydon team and their Ghanaian buddies; of course the Ghanaians won! After, we walked back up to the school and played with the buddies and young children they are so cute! Later in the evening the buddies rejoined us and we had a camp fire and Kathy was playing the ukulele.

Yesterday I (Olivia) was team leader which at first I was really nervous about! Being team leader involves you being in charge of all the other Weydon children and you are communication link between teachers and students. During the day my duties included having to write the shopping list, write the meals for the week and to create a cook team for lunch. Overall I found team leader wasn’t as terrifying as I thought and was actually quite good fun!

At stumble inn myself (Emilie) and the team had great fun doing henna. I wrote Ghana on most people and Sian had a sheet full of Ghanaian symbols and we did some of them too.

We are all loving it here and everyone is having a lot of fun, except maybe the long drop… Tonight we’re hoping to sleep outside; wish us luck!
