Visit to church and a tour of Elmina Slave dungeons

Partner Schools Worldwide > Sir William Perkins School and Bantuma JHS > Visit to church and a tour of Elmina Slave dungeons

Day 5 – Sunday, 20th October 2019

Today started off very early with a 5:30 start. We began our day with a trek into the forest where we aimed to see some animals! Unfortunately we didn’t see any but the walk was still enjoyable. When we got back, we had a long car journey back to Stumble Inn. At Stumble Inn, we had a quick turn around to get ready for church. We went to the school to pick up our buddies and walked to the first church. At the church, we had an amazing experience of the church atmosphere in Ghana. We spent the whole time singing and dancing and performed a beautiful rendition of ‘Shine Jesus Shine’! Then we headed off to the next church. At this church, we yet again performed our song and did some dancing with the people in the church. After a while, we headed back to Stumble where we had a quick lunch with our buddies. After getting changed, we set off for Elmina Castle. On the way, we sang lots of songs to our buddies. At the Castle, we went in and had a tour all around the castle. It was so fascinating to learn about the slaves and their experience at the castle. We popped into the shop to buy some little souvenirs. Later on, we dropped our buddies back home and came to relax at Stumble. We played some games and just relaxed. We also reflected on our experience so far on the trip. It was a very fun evening with lots of games and laughs. We are very excited for the sports day tomorrow!
