SWPS received a warm welcome ceremony at Bantuma school.

Partner Schools Worldwide > Sir William Perkins School and Bantuma JHS > SWPS received a warm welcome ceremony at Bantuma school.

Day 3 – Friday, 18th October 2019,

Group 3

The morning began with pancakes and fresh fruit although everyone was a bit tired after the random FOUR AM wake up call from the smoke detectors. A minor speed bump in our way. As it turns out, we take A LOT longer to get ready than the teachers anticipated which resulted in a very hot and sweaty speed walk along the beach to bantuma school. Once we arrived, our buddies immediately whisked us away to the two chiefs houses to greet them. This was a fantastic experience as we managed to both find cultural enrichment AND a fan 😉 Next came the welcoming ceremony which was pretty amazing. There was dancing, singing, acting and speeches- our buddies even managed to drag us to the floor to bust out our best moves out in the dance circle (I really hope no one filmed that). Following lunch, we split into our groups.

I went to a sustainable development goals lesson with our Buddies where we focused on communicable and non communicable diseases. After a quiz where we got a solid six out of fifteen and a very competitive treasure hunt of sorts we proceeded to make big posters to inform the local community about diseases.

Currently it’s absolutely chucking it down with rain but at least that makes it a little cooler!
We’re all heading to bed now to prep for the jungle outing tomorrow.
