Kimbolton say final goodbye to Ghana

Partner Schools Worldwide > Kimbolton School and Essaman United JHS > Kimbolton say final goodbye to Ghana

Sunday 21st July

Today was our last day filled with so many emotional goodbyes, tears and memories. After a fantastic, even though embarrassing, night of dancing and drumming on the beach at Stumble Inn, we parted with our buddies for the last time in Ghana. Many tears were shed but these are friendships that will be cherished and remembered forever. This morning, after a short lie-in, we all began to pack our belongings for the flight home. Nanna made us a final breakfast of pancakes, toast, porridge and fresh watermelon – her cooking was such a key part of our trip and will be very much missed. We then played card games, swam and sunbathed on the beach followed by a lunch of chicken and jolloff rice. Next, we presented Mary, Yaw, Nanna, Obama and Destina with parting gifts of beautiful fabrics and football shirts. These 5 people have played a crucial part to our trip in making it possible, productive and above all allowing us all to have some of the most fun and fantastic experiences of our lives. A tropical rainstorm drenched us all – a good disguise for all of the tears at the thought of leaving Stumble, the people here and Ghana altogether! We finally set off on our last bumpy journey in the ‘Spice Bus’, seeing the beauty of Ghana for the very last time. We have made some unforgettable memories on this trip and as we approach Accra we have all decided that one day we would love to come back, to the place we have called home for the past 2 weeks.
