Akwaaba!! Martin High School arrive in Ghana safely.

Partner Schools Worldwide > Martin Cedars High School and Nsadwer Basic School > Akwaaba!! Martin High School arrive in Ghana safely.

Day 1- 02 July, 2019
The first day was definitely long but our excitement really kept us going. Waking up at four, we had two flights: one from Birmingham to Amsterdam, the other to Accra. The Birmingham flight was quite normal, but the Accra flight was very comfortable, with entertainment and food making it much more enjoyable. When we landed, while the clean airport interior could’ve been anywhere, it wasn’t until we walked outside when we got our first true taste of Ghana. We were welcomed warmly by Reuben and the driver being so helpful. The heat and humidity hit us instantly, and although we were expecting it it was still surprising. The airport also seemed quite hectic, and there was lots of noises all around us. I’m sure for the locals though it is a controlled commotion. When we got to the hostel we had our first real meal, which was delicious and from hospitable hosts. The night was stuffy, but after a long day it wasn’t difficult to fall sleep.
