So today we woke up at around 6 (which is way too early because we cannot function properly) so we could go on the elephant walk. Each morning, some of the elephants leave the foundation with their Mahouts to graze in other areas so that they experience a little of life in the wild. Then we had oats for breakfast, which nobody liked except me.

At 8:30 we headed off to Kandy, which was more developed than we’d all expected. We went to the Temple of the Tooth where we had a tour guide who didn’t understand the concept of one item only being able to be in one place at once. We went on an afternoons troll beside a lake and admired the originality of the tuk tuks which kept beeping at us. Eventually we walked back into the town.

We had lunch at Secret Alley Cafe. During lunch, Otto got absolutely clapped by the ceiling fan when it fell down and got a free chocolate brownie milkshake as compensation. He was pleased, as he was absolutely fine. We then went to the market to buy spices and souvenirs. However we got hassled by the stall holders and were not particularly comfortable with these customs. We then headed back to MEF and chilaxed on the hammocks with the dogs. As I write this, I am in a hammock with Cheddar the dog, enjoying watching the fireflies.

Your trip just looks incredible. It’s been wonderful reading about all of your adventures and the train journey looked so beautiful. I think my favourite picture (apart from ones with Finn!) was the baby elephant. You’ve seen such a lot and had so many fantastic experiences. Can’t wait to hear all about it. We are so looking forward to seeing you. Enjoy the rest of the trip and hope Otto is ok after his brush with the ceiling fan!!! Lots of love.

Great post, Finn – sounds like you’re having such an interesting time, and the hammock and Cheddar sound particularly good. We’ve been following your adventures on Twitter but great to hear what you’ve been up to in person and see more photos. Safe trip home, hope you’ve had a fab time. Just loved reading all the blogs. Thank you so much for writing them and posting the photos. I’m very relieved to hear Otto is ‘absolutely fine’, as his mum you can imagine I was worried there for a minute! He loves chocolate milkshakes so he would have been very pleased with that! Looks like you’ve had an amazing experience and look forward to hearing more about it all on your return. XXX

This will possibly be the last reply to your amazing blog we write.

As ever, you’ve done some amazing things, whose tooth was in the temple?? Curious! Poor Otto, hope he’s recovered from the shock, sure the milkshake helped.

Thank you for keeping us so up to date with all your amazing adventures! Have missed you so much but reading about your days has been so brilliant.

Sleep well tonight, travel well tomorrow, safe journey & we’ll see you at Heathrow!

Huge thank yous to everyone involved in the amazing, unforgettable experience you’ve given these guys over the last 12 days, it’s been amazing!
    Xxxx
