WEY T1 the welcome ceremony

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > WEY T1 the welcome ceremony

Day 3- 9th April 19

Today we woke up at 5:30 (Ghanaian time) and then the cooking team made breakfast at 6 while everyone else had a shower and got ready for the rest of the day. For breakfast we had an omelet with fried bread which was so nice. We had a team talk and then got ready to walk into town for our welcoming ceremony to meet the elders. They were so welcoming and said that they were happy to have us. During this we had to stand up 1 by 1 and introduce ourselves. When we were walking back to the school we were staying at, children came up and fought over who would hold our hands and who would hold out water bottle. Later we came and collected all our donations, and carried them down to the school where we then watched a dance performed by our buddies. With our buddies we started making a football net out of the water bags we have been collecting. It was so fun to have the opportunity to get to know our buddies even more and create something for them. Later the cooking team helped to make red red which is a Ghanaian curry. Before eating we had time to have a shower and relax in the shade. We all then gathered at our meeting point and the elders were waiting to ask us if there was anything needed to make our stay more enjoyable. We shook their hands and they left, we then ate the lovely meal and had fruit for pudding. After that they set up a bonfire and we all sat around it, singing and dancing. We can all see your responces so we would love it if you could comment. Good night.
