A day trip to Cape Coast central market

Partner Schools Worldwide > Reading Blue Coat and Ankwanda JHS > A day trip to Cape Coast central market

Day 11-15th July 2018
Last night we played lots of fun card games and made tea and hot chocolate to have a nice evening. We got up early and set off to Cape Coast. After a very bumpy and cramped taxi ride we all arrived safely. We split into groups of twos and threes and were allowed to walk around the market and try and barter for the best prices. Most people where successful in getting fair prices apart from Pinky who was less lucky as he paid 150 cedi (£25) for two paintings – but he assures us they are very good paintings. Some of us also made a trip to the supermarket where there was extremely harsh security with everyone checking in their bags on arrival and items purchased being counted as we left. Our trip to Cape Coast ended in a bit if drama when the atm took Erin’s card. After Erin trying to talk to the Ghanaian bank manger we decided to leave the card and let Erin’s mum contact the bank. We made the journey back to Anakwanda and continued the previous day’s paint work. It was a successful day’s work and we think we may finish the project by Friday. The only down side is everyone trying to get the brown sticky oil paint off. Looking forward to dinner and a full day of work tomorrow.
