Rosie’s Birthday in Ghana. Project Day & Mosque Visit

Partner Schools Worldwide > Sacred Heart School > Rosie’s Birthday in Ghana. Project Day & Mosque Visit

Day 7. Friday 13th July 2018.

Student leaders: Suzie and Rosie

Rosie’s Birthday!!! Breakfast this morning was scrambled eggs on toast. After we headed down to the SDA school and started our jobs for the day. Some groups stayed at the SDA school where we painted the outside of the buildings while others headed down to the Islamic school. After a few hours’ work we took a break to play with our buddies before heading back to the hotel for lunch where we had fish or chicken with rice and sauce. After lunch, we headed down to the mosque. Annoyingly the boys got to go inside but girls couldn’t because of local Islamic custom. Then some of the group went back to the Islamic school to paint and others went back to play with out buddies.

After that, some headed to Charles’ workshop where you buy traditional Ghanaian clothing. The rest of us headed back to the hotel where Rosie opened her birthday cards.

We then had a dinner of spaghetti bolognese with goat meat and afterwards sang Happy Birthday to Rosie over a cake that the cooks had prepared for her. They also made a cake for Yaw, one of our Ghanaian leaders. During dinner, Suzie was given presents from her buddies including six bars of soap (maybe hinting something) and a pineapple. After this everyone gather round to hear some traditional Ghanaian stories. Anya, Beth and Mr Grant then told the Ghanaians some of our traditional fairy tales. We’ve all gone to bed now and are excited about a later start tomorrow.
