Morning all,
We started today with an early wake up to visit our buddies houses. after a quick breakfast at Janoda, we boarded the bus and drove down the roads of Hambantota and the local area to the first Buddy house where we were treated with traditional Sri Lankan drinks and snacks. This continued in all of the buddies houses. We were met with foods from soft toffee to buffalo curd and treacle, (all delicious!)
As lunch approached upon us, we paused taking a short break from visiting our buddies and we had lunch at a local restaurant which the buddies parents paid for. After lunch we got back on the bus and drove to Udawalawa National park and first watched the orphan elephant herd being fed milk, they were fun to watch. Then we hopped onto six open roofed safari trucks and drove around the Sri Lankan wilderness spotting animals! More wild elephants, buffalo, mongoose, peacocks…
We then had to return to visit the rest of the Buddy families houses. When we finished it was nearly midnight but the families were still pleased to see us but we were struggling to stay awake.
Finally we got home and went straight to bed and fell asleep within minutes.
