Traditional welcome, church service, scavenger hunts

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Traditional welcome, church service, scavenger hunts

Day 3: 23/07/17

Today we woke up pretty early to the loud sounds of prayer and drumming. We all tried to sleep through it but got up at around 6:00am anyway to start the day off. It was our first experience of the ‘showers’ which involves tipping a bucket of cold water over ourselves – however it was really refreshing and exactly what we needed to cope with the high temperatures! Also the duty groups were in full swing which means everyone had their roles of either cooking, laying out chairs for meals and cleaning. After breakfast we traveled to the Chief’s palace to meet the elders who welcomed us in Ghana after we introduced ourselves. Then we went to church with our buddies and it was so amazing to see the joyous community and we all sung and danced together. Later on after lunch, we did a scavenger hunt still with our buddies so we were able to explore the whole village. It was amazing realising what a tight knit community it is. Once home we just chilled with all the kids and shared songs and games too. Tonight’s dinner of egg stew was very popular with clean plates all round. Lots of love.

You must all be very hungry to eat egg stew! I’m sure it was delicious. Sounds like a busy day, please post some photos in the blog so we can see what you’re up to!
