Day 4 – 18/07/2017
we had pancakes for breakfast this morning, which were very tasty, we then set walking to the school and there was a rain shower, which was very refreshing but still hot and sticky. we continued work on the canteen and painted some planks of wood for the roof and had some help from some of the school boys. We tried a local ice yogurt and really enjoyed them! next we returned back to the guest house with our buddies and had some spaghetti with Vegetable stew, we all really enjoyed it! we then continued our day walking to Elmina castle via a fish market. whilst at the castle we all learnt a lot of history about the slave trade and saw the dungeons, a lot of the buddies had also never visited the castle. Then our buddies and us bought and traded gifts such as friendship bracelets and we bought postcards for home. we then walked through the boat yard by the sea and saw some boat being constructed by locals on the way back to the guest house. after relaxing and having some dinner we were treated to a performance of African drumming and dancing which we all got involved in, it was phenomenal and a fantastic night!
