The Volta Adventure

Day 17

We woke up at “Big Foot Safari” bright and early (thanks to Caz). Packed our tents and belongings before having a breakfast of pancakes. We all put our swimming gear on, and headed up the mountain to the waterfall for an exhilarating, cold early morning shower. The waterfall was beautiful and unlike anything we had ever seen; everyone was pretty much drenched! After, we all came back down, changed and jumped onto the buses ready for the monkey sanctuary. It was a 2hr drive before we arrived; the buses were silent with sleeping teams. The guide gave us all bananas, then headed into the forest to feed the monkeys. The guides lured the monkeys to us, where they jumped on us and we fed them.
Our last drive of the day was back to Aylos Bay, where (for the last time!) we set up our tents. Many of us jumped in the lake where some went on the pedolos. Before dinner we played a game where we had to be “true Ghanaians”. Each person in the team had to balance a bowl of water on their head and walk a set distance without touching it. The team with the fullest bucket would win; this ended in most people being soaked. It is fair to say that we are true ‘Farnhamers’!
Dinner was yam chips, chicken and salad, bonus, we had ketchup! Everyone had a great full last day, we will all be sad to go, but excited to get home ☺
