Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony and Elmina Castle Visit

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony and Elmina Castle Visit

Day 7 – Tom
The morning erupted with the thunderous claps of Grand Wizard Merlin, also known as Samuel Jones.
Breakfast was a reminder of home as Madame Emma treated us to some scrambled eggs, baked beans and some toast with a side of pineapple.
We got invited to the kindergarten graduation ceremony, the whole kindergarten joined us and our buddies, along with many of the teachers including the Big Cheese himself the headmaster (Mr. John). The ceremony completely filled the Roman Catholic church with mothers and grandmothers watching their children receive their graduation rewards.
Along with our buddies we quickly transferred onto two busses and headed for Elmina also known as St Georges castle (Brief history lesson) it was founded by the Portuguese, was captured by the Dutch who built the fort located on a hill opposite the castle, then the Dutch gifted the castle and the fort to the British empire who held it for 86 years before Ghana gained their independence.
After the tour of the castle, we visited the other group at their school, we had a poorly planned (on their part) game of rounders, I would have mentioned the score but nobody actually knows.
PS: all the bags have arrived to both groups; by the craftiness of the Ghanaian Drivers all 12 remaining bags were able to be crammed into the back of a tiny taxi to drive up the muddy pot hole covered road that leads to Dwabor from the main tarmac road.
P.P.S: Ned got whacked in the face by a bat during the game of rounders by Jasmine Fisher.
