This morning we woke up at six and packed up our camp beds and tents for our beach trip. After a quick breakfast, we got in the mini bus for a four hour journey to the coast. Along the way we enjoyed several visits to Sri Lankan attractions for example an organic farm, a traditional Sri Lankan restaurant for lunch and a lake surrounded by trees full of hanging fruit bats which we managed to disturb and flew away which was an amazing thing to see and also sing-a-long fun throughout the journey over the minibus microphone.

Once we arrived, we set up our camp and walked down to the beach where the weather and the views were both beautiful. The sea was a bit rough so we walked to the freshwater river leading into the sea where we played catch amongst ourselves and later, with the other Sri Lankans among other games. One of them managed to find a turtle which they brought out for us to see which we were all amazed by. The sea was calmer so we moved onto the beach where the waves were perfect for body surfing while others played beach twister and we were taught a lesson in cricket from our Sri Lankan guides.

After the beach we were all exhausted and had much deserved showers and a fish barbecue for a change with soup, egg fried rice, and salad which was thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated and described as the best meal we have had by far, followed by watermelon. Hopefully, as we are camping outside, the weather tonight will be as good as it was in the day and we will had a peaceful night free of rain!

Love from Sally.
