Day 4:
The day started early, we left the Janoda Foundation Centre at 5:30 to go to the local fish market. At the fish market we saw many variates of fish including: sword fish ( which was about 6ft long) tuna, rays and squid. This was an experience many will not forget as it was different to fish markets at home. Afterwards we went along the road a little bit to find amazing views, see the old gallows and take photos.
Finally, once we got back home, we had breakfast, consisting of rice, mango chutney and spicy onions. After breakfast we stated our project work, some people helped local builders create cement and create a foundation for the sandpit. As well as this a group of artists created a mural, painting on a lizard and a sea scene. This work left many people exhausted and dirty however everyone powered through.
Before we moved on to our final project we had lunch which included squid from the fish market we visited earlier in the day. Our final project of the day was teaching our buddy’s the recovery position and CPR. This was a good experience for all as we got to know our buddy’s and teach them skills that they could use to save somebody’s life. Straight afterwards we started playing games with our buddy’s and really got to know what they like.
A little time later after some down time we were privileged enough to go to a turtle beach, which normal people aren’t allowed to go on. The waves were massive and got most of the team late. Finally after drying off we went Janoda Foundation Centre for dinner consisting of rice and tuna, and a special surprise of ice cream.
Today was a very active day and despite the hard work spirits were high, making the day enjoyable for all.
