Saturday 25th July

This morning we were lucky enough to be given the chance to do some yoga and learn about “the science of living” – so the mental, spiritual and physical health (all the boys were in quite a bit of pain ). After thïs, we were late for breakfast so crammed in some bread and jam – with the staple fried egg – and went downstairs to meet our buddies. All of the presents were exchanged and it was great to spend some quality time with them; however Reüben’s, Joe’s, Polly’s and Grace’s buddies didn’t turn up but we’ll see them on Monday so it’s fine. So we then spent a few more hours with them playing frisbee and various other games, it was awesome to see everyone so quickly bond and we had good interracial banter. Next we had some free time to relax in the Sri Lankan sun, then congregated outside the nursery to plan the projects for the next two weeks: so we’ve got to paint a massive rain catcher as a globe (Maddie K is leader), a path and benches as a reading area (Brooker as leader), building a veggie plot (Charlie is leader for that one), doing a first aid CPR course with the school children using our inflatable dummies (with Maddie T taking the lead), building a cement hopscotch (Grace as leader) and of course the one and only Fulham coordinating a puppet show for the school in Tzu Chi (Harri and Polly also got stuck into the puppets). So we’ve got a lot to do! . To finish the day we strolled to the Sri Lankan equivalent of a corner shop (shack) to buy a drink and enjoy the walk (it was funny because Harri got offered a motorbike ride to which Cazza quickly dismissed ). All in all was an amazing day with the happy team experiencing awesome food awesome people and making a difference.
From Reuben (hi family).
