So the end of the tcp is fast approaching and we have RAIN!! the projects are complete and after breakfast we hand over the playhouse, clay pot paths and mural to the pre-school before heading up to our final day with the buddies at Tzu Chi. Even in the rain the little children are delighted to see the UK team and the teachers seem pleased with their new additions to their play area. We were all given friendship bands by Gawri, Gyana and the head teacher Chandra and Karu joined us again to see how hard we have been working.

The girls grabbed their sarees and we all headed up to Tzu Chi to watch the school’s prize giving and see the concert of the boy’s school band, complete with sound system in the open hall. Our ladies were taken to one side and great amusement as we were converted into saree clad ladies with the aid of buddies, teachers and many safety pins, a miraculous transformation! Carol and Debi were persuaded to present some of the class awards for achievement in the end of term tests before a dancing group broke out at the back of the hall. we had to rush away for our lunch at Janoda and then the buddies joined us for one last time. In two buses we went to visit the ancient Tissamarharama temple, an inspiring building. Sanjeewa provided lotus flowers and we all presented these as an offering to Lord Buddha. After a walk around the temple we drove to visit a forest of thousands of fruit bats and then came back to Janoda for a drink, biscuits and an impromptu party with music, balloons with little LED lights. Many presents were exchanged and tears started to flow as parents arrived to take the Tzuchians home.
