Day 4
On Tuesday we started the project by sledge hammering the floors of two classrooms. This involved hammering, shovelling and carrying rubble, resulting in us covered by dust and sweat! It was also Ed Brown’s birthday, receiving a Ghanaian shirt and card. In the evening, we hung out with our buddies who helped pick out materials for our Ghanaian shirts and dresses.
Day 5
We awoke to dark, grey clouds. This was followed by a biblical downpour of horizontal rain and winds, resulting in puddles in Nathan’s and Henry W’s mosquito tent. Due to the rain, the work was limited, so we cleared one room and sledge hammered a corridor. Later on we painted walls and designed murals for them. Shortly after, we held a reading class and did some singing and dancing with the younger children. Afterwards, a number of us went down into the community to buy biscuits and coke.
