Day 7
On Saturday, we painted all the shutters and doors of the whole of Essaman school! The second mural and form 2 classroom also progressed and now look colourful and a great environment for learning. Half way through the day, Mr Pollard took 6 students on a ‘5 minute walk’ to the junction to get some wood. Two and a half hours later, a group of hot, sweaty pupils returned with him as well as an entire wagon of 60 pieces of wood! In the afternoon, everyone participated in a drumming and dancing workshop which was easy for some, however the more rhythmically challenged weren’t as quick to grasp the moves and beat. The day finished with the group around the fire by the beach.
Day 8
On Sunday, the group enjoyed a long lie-in and relaxing morning of beach walks, sunbathing and reading. 5 of the girls had a chance to ride a horse along the beach. We visited the hotel next door for lunch which took 1.5 hours to arrive and dampened the mood somewhat. It was soon lifted when our buddies came to Stumble and we put together a fantastic sports day, even if there was a lot of cheating in the egg and spoon race! The evening came to an end with the World Cup final – what a great day.
