Days 1 and 2
Akwaaba (Greetings) from Ghana! After the panic of Accra, we’ve safely arrived in the community of Ankwanda. Having exchanged national anthems, we met our buddies and got to know them. Shortly after, the boys lost to seven years olds at football, whilst the girls learnt some Ghanaian crazy dance moves. We taught them the macarena, which they all now dance in the streets. We then had a tour of the community and returned home for the world cup final.
On the second day, we woke at 6am, expecting a welcoming ceremony but it was unfortunately delayed for 4 hours. Eventually it started and after a number of speeches and prayers, we were made to dance for the community, for which we were laughed at. We spent the afternoon on a beach resort. Everyone swam (but Sophie). We then returned for dinner and a game of cards. We start the project tomorrow and we’ll keep you updated!
