Days 6 and 7

Day 6

Everyone is well; the past few days have been busy but great fun. We did a dance and drumming workshop yesterday with the buddies, it was good fun as we learnt some traditional Ghanaian dances. We have finally finished painting the school including 3 themed rooms of science, english and maths. In addition to this, we painted the other school block inside and out. So the whole school has been rejuvenated. We are all proud of ourselves for doing this. Later in the day we were asked to go to our buddy’s homes to experience how vastly different their lifestyles are. The experience was extremely humbling and made a lot of us realise how lucky we really are. The buddies were extremely proud of their homes even though they were very basic. It was an experience a lot of us will remember forever.

Day 7

We finally had a lie-in!! Everyone is feeling good and well rested. We went to visit the local kindergarden and met some amazing children and teachers with our buddies. On our way back we briefly went to the market and tried bartering with our buddies. We bought yams , fruits and plantain. After a lovely lunch of yam chips and chicken , everyone is in good spirits. Ready for our visit to Elmina castle and market.
