Ghana has been a very interesting experience and whilst we have been out here, we have been reflecting on the following questions:
Question 1 – What were you expecting and what is reality? Has your visit challenged stereotypes about Ghana or Africa?
Expecting it to be
-less developed
-more rain
-less rubbish
-no TV’s or mobile phones
-no Taxis
-less amazement and interaction from community
-very open speech
Question 2 – Top 5 things the UK could learn from Ghana
1. Value of family, community and a sense of responsibility
2. Hard working – day it rained – filling buckets
3. Resourceful and practical
4. Less stress on time and a relaxed attitude
5. Pride in their culture
Question 3 – What makes a country rich? Is it just about money?
Richness is definitely not just about money. Ghana has a rich culture which is more than the UK have seen though we have more money. You don’t need money to be happy and the locals seems to be happy. They have an ability to use anything for what they want eg. Plastic bags tied together to make a skipping rope.
