Hello everybody it’s Eliza!
I’m currently sat on a bench taking refuge from the thunderstorm with Kate, Hamish and Ranmenika, our favourite elephant. The beauty of the view in front of us can’t be put in to words, but we’ll show you plenty of pictures when we come home. We woke up to Charlie’s ‘Good Morning’, rather than the alarm that failed us, but it didn’t stop the team from doing yoga in the morning sunshine with the 7 rescue dogs that belong to MEF. (P.S update on Ranmenika: he’s currently rolling around in the river a few metres from us!)
We continued the day cleaning out the elephants’ night beds, which yes mum, means I’ve ruined your gardening gloves- sorry! After filling ourselves with egg on toast, we completed the elephants’ daily care routines which includes feeding and bathing them. After this, we were all EXTREMELY hot and dripping with sweat, so Jade (our lovely MEF coordinator) took us down to the local hotel’s gorgeous pool to relax and take a break as a team. We came back to banana curry which filled us up ready for a garden tour from MEF’s very wise gardener who was the Sri Lankan version of Bear Grylls. He cut us pineapples fresh from the ground which we are having with our dinner tonight. The team have been set a task to film promotional footage of MEF which we will begin tomorrow when the rain has cleared. At 6:00 we will have dinner and then watch a movie which will be a great end to an even better day. Hope everything is good back in England.
We can’t wait to tell you about our adventure when we get home but one of my lovely teammates will update you tomorrow. Love from us all – Eliza, Kate, Hamish, Ellie, Hatty, Jess, Esha, Charlie and Lily. <3 xxxx

Looks like looking after all those pets at home has set you well for looking after elephants!
Sounds like a trip of a lifetime, I’m glad my humiliation on the fund raising quiz night was not in vain…
