This morning we awoke at 5:00am to do any last minute packing and tidy up the centre before we embarked on our long journey home. We loaded up our bags onto the truck and clambered onto the bus, after a long three hour drive we pulled up at a little house where they sold cinnamon and showed us the process behind selling it. After leaving, we embarked upon a new attraction, the moonstone mines. Moonstone is a very expensive, glass like stone found about 20 foot deep in the ground “in certain places”(Moonstone Tour Guide *TM*). After the moonstone mine we had the chance to buy some stones for ourself or family members. We then travelled to a mask museum which showed a lot of cultural masks from Sri Lanka. We got the chance to buy some masks at the shop and some people had the chance to try some on. THEN WE HAD LUNCH!!! Chicken nuggets and chips for the first time in 3 weeks felt like heaven, even if it wasn’t quite mackie d’s. Our Sri Lankan buds Samantha and Chandana and Karu were a fountain of banter to which everyone else drank from. We carried on our drive till we reached one of Karu’s friends house where we had a spot of juice and tea and had some reflection time summing up our thoughts on individual activities involved in the trip. After the reflection we got back onto the bus which consisted of lots of singing and prizes on something someone thought was memorable about them throughout the trip. We then finished our “time killing tour” of Colombo and headed to the airport. (Sorry to the parents but we are all very sad to leave!) currently we are trying to sing Adele and killing it (not the good way) At the airport we will be reunited with team 3 and then we will be on the 2 hour flight to Mumbai. Mumbai airport is exciting for all of us just because there is a KFC where we can all buy some MORE chips! After that we will be on our last flight to London Heathrow, lasting 8 hours 35 minutes. We have had an amazing time and have made memories that will last a long time, thanks for making this trip very special, lots of love from the whole of team 2 xox
