Tuesday 16th July
Today was spent completing the paint job at Amissano primary school. Finishing touches were made on the walls and woodwork, and small groups made a start on decorative murals both inside the classrooms and on either end of the building. These included the Ghanaian coat of arms which I painted with Mrs Lace’s assistance, the Ghanaian and British flags lovingly crafted by Scarlett and Minty along with Mr Gibbs and Stu, and vibrant alphabet paintings in the classrooms which required input from all the rest of the team. Overall it was a tiring but incredibly rewarding day, and looking back at the finished classroom block as we hastily escaped the swarms of children in our beloved orange truck was satisfying for everyone. We were all glad to have finished our first project and looking forward to our work-free stilt village visit tomorrow.
