We were up early ready to start the long journey home. Sad to be leaving Sri Lanka but looking forward to seeing our families so that we could tell them all about our fantastic adventure. The day started with a visit to a turtle hatchery. Most of us had never seen tiny live baby turtles let alone handled them. The owners had been badly affected by the Tsunami of 2004 but with the support of tourism and charity they reopened to the public in 2006. The little turtles were incredible, in the wild they have such a battle for survival and their first swim in the sea.
Like the turtles we had had an amazing journey and a trip of a life time that we will never forget, It was humbling and an honour to be welcomed by the beautiful people of Sri Lanka and if our efforts helped just a tiny bit then our trip was a huge success, we benefited so much from the experiences and leave with such great memories.
