Day 27-28th July 2018
This morning, we had an amazing breakfast as usual which was pancakes!! Quickly after, Beth and I journeyed to a local health clinic whilst the others carried on with the painting project. Once we arrived at the clinic we met Jane, who is a nurse, and a coordinator for Elmina Hospital. They happily accepted our donations and explained that they would go a long way to help the local community. We then walked up to a school which was partnered with Lord Wandsworth College from the UK. Michael, from partner Ghana, explained how they now have 33 partnerships and told us how much it does to help the children. On the way back we both discussed how even the small things, like a fully built smooth road are taken for granted. Once we arrived back at the school and rejoined the rest of the group we began what was another hot and grueling day of painting. However, given the school broke up for the summer yesterday, it was much more manageable than previous days. Lunch was a lovely rice and curry dish which I’m sure we all enjoyed very much. After a further 3 hours we had finally finished!!! We then took several photographs with our buddies and each other. We finally arrived back at the hotel where almost all of us collapsed into deep sleep. Desperately trying to remain awake, we decided to go outside and play some volleyball, which Beth obviously excelled in, for some pre-dinner entertainment. Then it arrived… Dinner was served!!! Today it was RedRed and Rice with plantain which was all amazing. That brings us to now. Currently the plan is to go out to play some more volleyball before we retire to the balcony for evening conversions as we do every night, before we sleep. – Beth and Lewis
