Day 16: Sunday 22nd July 2018
Student leaders: Max and Lucas
Today we had an early start as we needed to be packed and ready to say goodbye to our friends in Kwahu Tafo by 8am. We had an early breakfast of eggy bread at 6.30am and spent the rest of the morning dismantling bunk beds and loading them and our bags onto the buses.
Once this was done, we got onto the buses and set off on our exciting travels around Ghana. Today our destination was Multi Hotel and the journey time was estimated to be about four hours. So finally around 8.30am, we set off and said a final goodbye to Kwahu Tafo.
What followed was a fairly ordinary 2-hour journey, that was until the crash or rather the bump. While driving over a speed bump, a speeding man in a Hyundai drove into the back of our big orange truck. Nobody felt more than a small bump and there was minimal damage to the truck but the Hyundai was completely totalled.
What ensued afterwards was about a 30 minute argument as the man tried to claim that we needed to pay for his car damage despite it being entirely his fault. Once it was agreed that this was the case, we continued with the journey.
Once we reached Multi Hotel and our new hotel, we were shown our rooms. However we didn’t have long as we soon took a trip out to Aloys Bay so that we could use a swimming pool, which was very nice and even though it was small it was full of crystal blue water.
Excited for the rest of the week!
