Day 15: Saturday 21st July
Student Leaders: Amelia and Lily A
We had a later start today – woken up at 7.15 for pancakes (everyone’s favourite)! Then we got dressed into our smart burgundy polo shirts ready for our final visit to the SDA school and Kwahu Tafo Community Church.
Before Church, we took many team photos outside the newly-built canteen at the SDA school. Then we headed to the church and were met with warmth and hospitality for the closing ceremony. After admiring Daniel the preacher’s charisma, we were each called up to receive a personalised scarf which reads ‘from Kwahu Tafo SDA JHS to (name).’ I think we all feel privileged to have taken part in this cultural experience that we’ll never forget.
After a 1.5 hour service, we swiftly headed to SDA for photos with our buddies and the school extended their thanks towards us. We then headed back to out hotel for lunch: a selection of beef, tuna or cheese sandwiches. Most of us spent our afternoon sunbathing, packing up our things ready for an exciting week of travelling and preparing for the buddy buffet in the evening.
At 5.30pm our buddies from SDA arrived at our hotel ready for the delicious food prepared for us all. After devouring 4 varieties of rice, plantain and goat, we continued to socialise with our new friends accompanied by loud music, soft drinks and lots of dancing (which is continuing as I’m writing this at 9pm).
