Batik, mask and drum making workshops at Stumble Inn

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Batik, mask and drum making workshops at Stumble Inn

Day 12 : 01/08/17

Today we left Dwabor for the final time after an emotional farewell to all the children and buddies. It took a few cold play and Beyonce songs on the bus to reduce all of the boys to tears and before long w were on our way to Stumble Inn. We met up with the Ayensduo team to spend the rest of our trip with them for our R&R ( rest and relaxation) and for the remainder of the day we made drums, masks, to display on the walls at home. Batiking the material produced some really lovely patterns that we can transform into cushions and clothing in the future. After that the day was spent in much deserved peace and quite, relaxing on the beach. Finally we surprised Tom McGinn with a birthday cake and card. Happy Birthday Tom! As we write our blog we are sitting in front of a blazing campfire, full from another amazing meal made by our cooks. Tonight everyone is excited to sleep on mattresses for the first time in 11 days and tomorrow we have got an early start for a long journey to the Eastern Ghana region, by the Volta lake, the world’s largest man-made lake. Although it was sad to leave our buddies we feel so lucky to have spent time with them this last week and a half. We will never forget them. Everyone is looking forward to the next few days of R&R. We can’t Waite to get going again and we will update you again tomorrow!
