Murals, drum and dance performance

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Murals, drum and dance performance

Day 11: 31/7/17

The day started with a delicious breakfast of eggy bread and a quick briefing of what the day had in store for us, we were sad as it was our final day in Dwabor. We split up for the start of the day to focus on different tasks to ensure we finished previously started projects. A small group focused on finishing the mural we had started earlier on in the week and added dinner details to the drawings on the side of the drawings on the side of the school. Other cleaned the site, ready for our departure tomorrow. Some of us also helped finish off the playground we had moved to the kindergarten, by adding sand to lunch of tomato and cheese sandwiches to help us get through the day. The afternoon consisted of drumming and dancing with Rasta Kobi and his crew. We each learnt a dance with our buddies and a drumming rhythm which we later performed to the community. It was great fun and helped us come closer and bond with our buddies and teammates as our time in Dwabor came to a close. After our performances, Rasta Kobi and his crew blew ua away with some amazing dancing and drumming, even getting a few students to join in with the fire eating and dance display. Overall it was a great experience and every student thoroughly enjoyed their time with Rasta Kobi. The day ended with a huge banquet with all the buddies filled with delicious food such as egg stew, sausage and chicken. Finally we had a big chicken. Finally we had a big bonfire to celebrate our time in Dwabor and wish us luck in the future.
