Good evening parents of friends and friends of parents, or good afternoon should I say, whatever the time may be over there. I’m Sam, and I know that you know that I know that you know that you don’t want to be patronised with the explanation of how I was the leader today and that I am currently writing the blog that you are reading, so I tried to skip that, although if you read between the lines there, you would see that I explained that all over again to you. So let’s get down to it.
We woke up at 6:00 or at least were supposed to, it ended up being around 5:30 because the night before, us guys had a messy room, and were meant to clean it up in the morning, but we felt so bad about how upset Mrs. Warnock was that we cleaned it up soon after she left. So after waking up we finished sweeping rooms, loaded the truck with our luggage and hopped onto a minibus with our daysacks. We met our new guide, a Sri Lankan named Buddhi, then we drove for a small while before picking up some supplies, short eats, to eat for lunch, as we already had stuff for breakfast, made and packed neatly into styrofoam boxes by the generous team at MEF. After buying out almost the entire store of all their water and baked goodies, we continued to drive towards the train station at Kandy whilst Christian slept, yet again and we boomed some music out of Seb’s speaker. On arriving at the station, we were in a frenzy to get to the actual station building itself, and so we jumped out of the bus and ran; bopped and weaved between some rusty old tincan-cars and arrived finding we had a surplus of time (like 2 minutes) until the train left and we had been running for little to no reason!! We took our seats and ate our breakfasts, then had a bit of a change of seating plan to accommodate everyone and we sat and chilled for the rest of the journey (especially Christian, who slept again). We all had a chance along the way to hang SAFELY out of the train and marvel at the wonderful scenery, and many more of us slept. We then arrived at our stop, drove even further and arrived where we are now.
We were met at the Janoda Foundation by Karu our generous host and a delicious supper and two large bottles of cold coke!
Now, amazement of amazement the boys are doing some washing whilst the girls watch eating Nutella and crisps!
And so after that very long story, I bid you good night and farewell.
Thanks for reading,
Sammy C
Another fantastic blog, glad to hear that you enjoyed the train journey and that you were all safe! I hope you enjoy the next part of your trip as much as you have enjoyed the elephants.
We are really enjoying all these blogs and pics. You look like you are having the most amazing time – very jealous!
