Today has been a great day, everyone has worked really hard, but these people stood out especially;
Amy, for being early and on time for everything today.
Smita, for motivating everyone, even though it has been extremely hot, it worked and no one stopped working
Christian, for non-stop work when we were cleaning an area of land for the vet to work on the elephants with, he did so much extra work that at one point he went outside the area and started clearing the pathway.
Seb, for carrying almost all of the wheelbarrows of sand which is surprisingly extremely heavy.
Jonny, for always working hard and helping everyone with anything they could possibly want and making people laugh with his awful jokes.
And finally Archie, for offering to help everyone with their work, he cleaned up a lot of people’s mess ( including cleaning the boy’s room with Seb) and for also lifting everyone’s spirits.
Everyone did exceptionally well today and work really hard considering most of us didn’t sleep for about 36 hours until last night.
We are enjoying our trip so far and the people are really lovely.
Today we have made up the vitamin balls and fed them to the elephants, cleaned the elephant night beds and have washed the elephants in the MEF beach, using coconut shells do give them a little massage. We also started our projects like making a database for MEF, clearing an area for the elephants to have their vet checks done each day and creating a treasure hunt and treasure hunt for future visitiors and volunteers. We are going to make a video to promote the elephant walks and hopefully encourage the tourists to walk rather than ride the elephants, which can really damage them.
Everyone has had a really good day today and although we are hot, smelly and tired everyone is enjoying themselves.
Just to say keep going everyone! You might be feeling a bit tired today so be gentle with yourselves you will feel better soon. We miss you but are so glad you are having this experience. Rest and eat well and drink lots of water and be kind to yourselves!
Lovely to get a picture of what you’re all doing!
I wonder where Jonny’s awful jokes come from?
We have no family history of jokers!
I hope your happy, useful and enjoyable start continues
through the trip. Roger Moat, Jonny’s Grandfather
I am interested that riding hurts the elephants. So many places offer elephant rides I India and Asia. This definitely needs publicity. Well done to all of you. Hope you get some rest and relaxation after all your hard work
Great work by everybody ,sounds really exciting. Bring some coconut shells home with you Jono , i am sure Mum and Dad would enjoy a rubdown with them
