Hi everyone, this is Esha!
I would like to start off the blog by wishing Debbie (Hamish’s mum) and Jack (Ellie’s brother) a happy birthday and I hope that you are both having an amazing day, and to Debbie Putz, Scouting For Girls is currently playing in our room- what a coincidence!

Today we had an early start at 5am to visit the local fish market. I think it is safe to say that it was a smelly experience but watching the sunrise was a beautiful sight. We then had a lovely breakfast which was home cooked rotties with butter and jam. They were a bit like pancakes so they went down well with everyone.
After breakfast, we headed out to the preschool playground and painted the climbing frame. It was extremely hot but with the help of Lily’s iPod and Hamish’s speaker supplying us with music, we managed to power through. Majority of the time we spent after painting was scrubbing our feet, arms and legs with lots and lots of baby wipes to get rid of all the paint that we had collected on ourselves. Hamish managed to get red paint on his scalp which looks like a gash in his head but don’t worry Puttick’s, it was only paint 🙂
After a delicious lunch of rice, chicken, poppadoms and chutney, we then got back onto the bus and drove to a beautiful hotel and visited the craft fair which included huts filled with sculptures, clothes, paintings and handmade pottery which we saw being created which was so much fun. Running late, we then met with our buddies back at the Janoda Foundation to teach them about first-aid which included some funny demonstrations of CPR using blow up dummies and broken legs which included a cast made out of a yoga mat.
All of us then changed into our white clothes to get ready to visit the temple. The highlight was when Hamish walked into the room looking like a white marshmallow 🙂 it was very interesting to learn about how Buddhists practise their religion.
Now that we have said goodbye to our buddies for the day, we are all currently lying on our beds back at Janoda listening to music and planning our activities for tomorrow, awaiting for our dinner of sausages and noodles. Craving of the day: Sanpellegrino lemon.
We hope you are all enjoying the blog posts so far and aren’t missing us too much!
We cannot wait to see everyone with their (hint hint) amazing banners; and to the Punj’s, please may you bring me a big dairy milk bar when I come home, and Arun, I hope you aren’t missing your lil sister too much :))
Lots of love from the best Sri Lanka team ever, Esha, Katie, Eliza, Ellie, Hamish, Charlie, Lily, Jess and Hatty xxxxxxxxx

Here are some birthday messages from Ellie and Hamish:

Hi Guys, Lovely to hear all the news from today, it is great to feel your enthusiasm with everything that is being asked of you. That can be challenging in 30 degree heat! Hi All, thanks so much for your birthday wishes, your comments really made me laugh Esha. It’s taken me ages to reply because it was back to work for me today and I’ve only just stopped for lunch. No van yet Hamish, we haven’t heard from Rob yet. Have you secretly contacted him and asked him to finish it after you are back….hmmmmm! It’s looking distinctly like you and I will be able to pick it up together after all!! Big hugs all round and see you soon BSLTE XxX
