Elmina Castle Visit – Team 3

Partner Schools Worldwide > Weydon and Dwabor JHS > Elmina Castle Visit – Team 3

Day 5 – Tuesday 4 / 0 4/ 17
We woke up today at 6:00am, after having and eventful sleep ( one of Ghana’s tropical storms). To start the day off we had our favourite pineapple pancakes, seated along side bugs and insects from the storm. Carol let us look at the Ghanaian science mock paper….it was really hard! We drove down the very bumpy dirt track, that took us to Ayensudo where we dropped off the sports day kit to the other team. Eventually we arrived at the castle in Elmina, the tour guide was very boring but Kobby gave us a quiz about the castle and we all failed! At this point we were all very hot, so we all enjoyed a strawberry fanice ( frozen yogurt) which was sooooooo good. Running a bit late we ventured off to Ayensudo where we had spaghetti on the bus. We arrived towards the end of the sports day in Ayensudo, which was good because we had just enough time to make sure the other group were doing it right! After that we joined with our buddies again to go on a scavenger hunt around Ayensudo town. This proved a bit of a challenge as one of the tasks was to catch a chicken! Another was to buy the most original fruit. One group bought a watermelon, and one bought Okra, which is a small green pepper – like vegetable. Then we jumped back into the bus where we spent the next 30 minutes loudly singing Ghanaian songs that our buddies taught us the day before. The cook team got off lightly as Mary and Isha made our supper of them. We are ending the evening off now chilling with music from the drums and snuggling up with the children. We will update you tomorrow as usual and we are missing everyone at home!
