Day 12 by Sean
Today was the 2nd to last day of project work. In the morning, the sports day was planned to the finest detail. The swings were finally finished which felt like our first triumph. The classrooms were given their final lick of paint. It all looked incredible. As we finished, we took on the extra task of painting both schools’ badges on the wall
Day 13 by Ben
Today we took the buddies to Kakum national park – an enormous rainforest home to a plethora of exotic insects, towering trees and sweating tourists. The attraction in question is a series of seven dubiously constructed rope bridges spanning the forest canopy, providing dizzying views of the whole area.
After we crossed the bridges (some with more trepidation than others) we took a short bus ride to a restaurant surrounded by crocodiles and statues of naked children. Familiar food was a treat as well as a nice cold drink. When we finished we went to Kobi’s shop to buy some souvenirs. We spent the rest of the day enjoying some well-earned R&R in preparation for the sports day.
Day 14 by Charlie
This was one of our final project days with the kindergarten and junior school sports day. We had a very successful day involving a brutal Chesham v Brenu volleyball match and Ghana v UK tug of peace (not war!) which we won!
Day 15 by Evelyn
Today we completely finished all the projects. Both school crests were painted on the side of a building to symbolise the partnership between the two schools.
Day 16 by Laura
Today we woke up to sight of ewes fleeing a particularly confident ram. Now several are pregnant and there are also some lambs around – fitting nicely with our circle of life trip anthem. We spent most of the day decorating the camp for our ‘Buddies Buffet’ and prepared a welcome song and as we pushed on through 3 different types of rice, we felt properly stuffed.
Day 17 by Bethan
Everything is winding down now and we are definitely enjoying the chance to sit back and relax after a couple of weeks of hard work. We spent most of the day enjoying the sunshine before we head back to what we hear is a very rainy England
